On January 11th, when I was about 8 weeks along, we went in for my first appointment with the OB/GYN. Since I'm considered a high-risk pregnancy, they ran an ultrasound during my physical exam, so we got to see the little peanut for the first time!
Since the baby was only about half an inch long it was really hard to make out anything on the screen, but the whole time we could see a blinking gray square in the middle of the baby's body which my doctor said was the heart beating. She also pointed out the baby's head and "tail" end, and at one point we could make out two tiny hands sticking up right in the middle.
Yesterday we went in for my second appointment. It was much shorter than the first, but we got a chance to listen to the baby's heartbeat which was very VERY cool. I wish I had one of their doppler devices at home so I could listen to that strong (and fast!) little thump, thump, thump all day long.
