Last week Abe turned three! We celebrated with a dinosaur party on Saturday, but since his actual birthday was on Friday, we wanted to do something fun to make the day feel special.
We started by setting up the dinosaurs we bought him as a birthday present, along with a few he already had, on the table next to his bed for him to find when he woke up in the morning.
I even made tiny party hats for them all!
He was so excited when he woke up. I met him coming out of his room and he told me "Mommy, there's dinosaurs. LOTS of dinosaurs." After showing them to me, he said "It looks like a party with a whole bunch of dinosaurs!"
He also noticed that one of the dinosaurs was holding a lollipop. See that dimple on his cheek? That shows up when he's really happy.
Edie woke me up that morning, so we were just laying in bed waiting for Abe to wake up. I was so excited for him to get up! Of course, he was the last one awake that morning.
We also left a message for him on the dishwasher...
His reaction made me laugh. We had to keep reminding him that he's 3 now. Just the other day he started telling people "I'm 1!" so naturally he figured now he was 2.
Noah took the day off work, so after getting dressed we headed off to the State Fair. We had donuts for breakfast, and second breakfast, and elevensies...
We stopped to dig (and eat some sand) in the giant sandbox...
...and did a few other fun things before the kids started getting tired and it was time to head home. Next time we'll have to hit up the animal barns and do some carnival rides...and eat more food-on-a-stick.
